Short answer: closer than you think.
Long answer: close enough that the reason most visitors never leave the Strip has nothing to do with distance and everything to do with not knowing what’s up there.
The Actual Distance
Downtown Las Vegas sits north of the Las Vegas Strip, along Fremont Street. From most Strip hotels, it’s a 10–15 minute rideshare. From the north end of the Strip it’s faster; from the far south end, allow a little longer.
| From | To Downtown (Fremont East) | Approx. time |
|---|---|---|
| North Strip hotels | Rideshare | ~10 minutes |
| Mid-Strip hotels | Rideshare | 10–15 minutes |
| South Strip hotels | Rideshare | 15–20 minutes |
| Las Vegas Convention Center | Rideshare | 10–15 minutes |
| Harry Reid Intl. Airport | Rideshare | 15–20 minutes |
How to Get Downtown From the Strip
- Rideshare (recommended) — the simplest option. Enter your destination address directly. For Bauhaus, that's 115 N 7th St. Drivers know Fremont East well.
- Taxi — available at every Strip hotel. Give the specific street address rather than just saying 'downtown'.
- Driving — possible, but if you're going out for the night, don't. Downtown venues run until 6am and you don't want to manage a car at 5am.
- Walking — not realistic. It's a few miles along a busy boulevard. Don't.

| DJ sets | 45–90 minutes | 3–5 hours |
| Music | Commercial EDM, open format | Underground house & techno |
| Closes | ~4am | 6am or later |
| Crowd | Mostly visiting tourists | Locals and music travellers |
| Entry | Premium, table-driven | Free before 12:30am at Bauhaus with RSVP |
| Walkable | Barely | Genuinely |

What's Actually Up There
Downtown’s nightlife lives in the Fremont East district — just east of the Fremont Street Experience. Independent bars, live music, and the city’s underground club scene.
The anchor is Bauhaus LV, at Bauhaus LV, 115 N 7th St, Las Vegas, NV 89101: underground house and techno, a Danley sound system, 3–5 hour DJ sets, a 60-foot LED wall, and doors until 6am. Free entry before 12:30am with an RSVP.
There’s also the 18b Arts District south of Fremont — galleries, independent restaurants, and the best pre-night dinner in the neighbourhood.
The Best Way to Use the Distance
- Dinner and early drinks on the Strip — it's genuinely excellent at this.
- Leave around 11:30pm. Feels early. Isn't.
- Rideshare north — 10 to 15 minutes.
- Arrive at Bauhaus before 12:30am for the free RSVP entry window.
- tay for the peak, 2am–4am, and the after-hours until 6am.
